My Name is Christof Spinelli and everybody that knows me will tell you that my life consists of eating and enjoying life with a smile.

I am born with a passion for food thanks to my Italian dad who also provided me with the name ‘Spinelli’,  I think that it is a well-known fact that in Italian families eating and drinking is the most important thing. Plus being the son of a restaurant keeper made food even more important.  

I remember our yearly holidays in Italy at my aunt’s house getting stuffed with more food than one can imagine: appetizers, first courses, main courses, desserts…. She used to start cooking at 4 o’clock in the morning to make sure that everything got freshly made with the best  ingredients from the freshly picked asparagus from the fields to the shredded meat.

By the age of 12 I decided to go to Chef  school. This turned out to be a big turning point in my life. As before  I wasn’t always keen on eating things I didn’t know. This rapidly changed was I started this education.

 If there is one thing I learned from my parents, it is to enjoy life. Being a restaurant keeper, my father always took us to great restaurants. Learning us what good food and drinks were, was and is still up to today his life mission.  Also to explore new things, to travel, etc… What until now I always have tried to do. It won’t come to you as a surprise that I also love to travel.  I really feel fortunate to have seen lots of places in Asia, Europe, North America, etc….and I am looking forward to keep exploring new places.

 I currently work as a SAP consultant and a question that many might asking themselves is ‘why do you work in IT?’. The reason for this was that after 4 years of cooking school and working all weekends and holidays at my dad’s restaurant,  I started realizing that being in the restaurant business maybe wasn’t the ideal thing if I ever wanted a family life.

So I decided to choose another direction in life. But don’t get me wrong, my passion for food, drinking and travelling has never gone away, it is still very present. 

Why this blog? Lots of friends, colleagues, foreign friends, etc… always say that when they think of me, they think of travelling and good food. They even call me up when they are abroad and want to know a nice restaurant to eat. Or when Foreign friends are in Belgium they always call me to have dinner with me as they know I always try to the get the best food for them.   So one by one they convinced me to share my experiences and my passion for life through this blog. My goal is to give nice restaurant, hotel and travel tips, in combination with some recipes and other stuff that might be interesting.

Going to restaurants, travelling, etc… doesn’t always have to be expensive. For me a nice Belgian stew with French fries can taste as good as eating at a 2 or 3 star restaurant. My mission is not to criticize restaurants or give bad publicity. I just want people to experience the best of life and go through life with a smile.
